HP Appoints Former Home Depot CIO to IT Executive Team
By John Hazard

Hewlett-Packard this week named Ron Griffin, the former chief information officer of The Home Depot, to lead its global application development and support as head of HP’s Technology Solutions Group.

Griffin, a 25-year veteran of the IT industry, will report to Randy Mott, HP executive vice president and chief information officer, as part of HP’s 11-member Senior IT Executive team.

TSG comprises HP’s enterprise server, storage, software and services units.

“Ron is a seasoned CIO with a strong track record of delivering world-class IT solutions for a rapidly growing business,” Mott said in a statement announcing Griffin’s appointment. “His broad industry experience, passion for delivering IT value, and commitment to people make him an ideal leader for our TSG business.”

Griffin spent 11 years with The Home Depot, the last eight as senior vice president and CIO. During his tenure, he led the IT strategy and business organization that facilitated the company’s growth from less than $3 billion to $54 billion in sales.

Most recently, Griffin co-founded Griffin, Anderson & Co., an IT consulting firm.
